Finally all this Christmas thing is out of the way. Although I think there are some after christmas sales out there so that's why i decided not to do any shopping today. Maybe this weekend. I have another day off from work today and let me say i needed it. After all that traveling i needed a day off. All in all it was okay, nothing new to report or complain about. I could of done without it but alas it's not all about me. Yeah, sure you're gonna say Dec 25 is not Jesus' birthday but some pagan holiday and you know what? So what? The celebration is still there no matter what day he was born. Deal with it. Now all we have to look forward to for the remainder of the year is the coming of the new year 2008. Dear God, how much longer?
I was browsing through the nbc logs and I saw that Journeyman was not coming back. Figures. You have a smart interesting show without sex, drugs, or over the edge violence and it gets canceled. I guess it's all about the Benjamins. If it's not bringing in enough money it's gone. No wonder the network has gone down. There's only one other show I watch on this network and that's Heroes which won't be back until who knows when. Sometimes I watch Chuck but I'm not really that hooked. Maybe this weekend we can catch a movie. We weren't able to this Sunday because we had to leave town early but maybe this weekend will be different.

Christmas Eve
Here it is, Christmas Eve and we are well into getting ready to get this party going? Party? No way, it's just the same old boring crap year after year after year.....
Well, at least everyone's present and accounted for and we're all doing okay. It seems like it will be a pleasant day ahead, not too cold nor too hot. Need to do a couple of errands and then we can get ready for the celebration tonight. Will be taking some pictures so in the next couple of days I can share them here.

3 Days Until Christmas
To you it's about presents
About how much turkey you can eat
Getting together with family
To see what Santa will bring
To me it's about the greatest gift
That God gave upon this earth
The holidays don't feel empty
It's my main reason to rejoice
Greetings one and all on this windy dry day in South Texas. Just got through (barely) another work week and I am certainly looking forward to a 5 day weekend. That's right, I'm actually taking time off from work. Well, Monday is Christmas Eve so we're only working 1/2 a day (which I requested off) and we're closed on Tuesday and I also requested Wednesday so I won't be back until Thursday. Cool, huh?
This weekend we'll have plenty of movies out but the ones I'm really thinking of actually spending my hard earned $$ on are National Treasure and Sweeney Todd. Actually, National Treasure was trashed by the critics because of its nonsense plot but if you just want simple entertainment it was recommended and the other one was actually nominated for picture of the year even though I hear it's highly violent (since when has that stopped me). So we'll see what happens tomorrow which is movie day. I might not go at all.
TV right now totally sucks what w/the never ending Christmas specials (the same every year) and reruns there's nothing really worth watching. Now w/the writers strike not likely to end soon they'll be showing more reality show (who extended their 15 minutes?) and game shows I really don't bother right now. Next month, though they're going to be showing new episodes on cable shows (Psych, Monk, The Closer, etc) but for right now.....
Was reading the newspaper this morning and all you get is ugly news. Like the police officers who were arrested for sexual assaults and the controversy because of the girl that was left to die in the freezing weather because they thought she was already dead. Gees, the way things are going I'm afraid to be stopped by the cops or to be in an accident or somehow need the EMTS.

10 More shopping days
hey there folks, how's it going? Well, I myself went out this am to do some more christmas shopping and boy was it windy. If you don't have to go outside today stay indoors where it's nice and warm (hopefully). It's been a hectic couple of weeks because we've been adjusting to the new situation and so far so good.
Got my results back for my first assignment and for a newbie it was okay I guess. I have alot of work to do to get myself where I wanna be but it will take time. I need to start on the second assignment but like everything else I tend to procrastinate. Maybe tomorrow. I still have a lot of stuff to do before I can settle down and do my homework.
Took Maggie to take a picture with Santa Claws last weekend and the poor thing was so scared she was shaking. Her ears never relaxed but this was her first time so she's forgiven. I made some wallet copies to send with the christmas card to mom, mary and susy. Mary called me and she just couldn't believe I had her picture taken. why not, huh?
There's nothing really new under the sun on tv land except on Thursday it was a new supernatural episode but I had to recorded because we had the christmas party to go to. I still haven't gotten around to watch it, maybe later. I was watching the NCIS episodes already on file. Every other show is on hiatus right now and who knows when and if we'll get new episodes. Oh, Friday was a new Moonlight too but that's about it. Who watches tv during the holidays, anyways.

QL Forever
Okay, since my last post earlier I've been perusing YouTube for Quantum Leap stuff and I stumbled upon the trailer for the Quantum Leap movie to be released Summer 2008. Isn't that cool? The moment that leapers everywhere have been waiting for for 15 years is finally here. Since we all felt ripped off when we saw "the final leap" hopefully they will bring Sam home at last. One can only hope.
24 Days Until Christmas
Hey there, back for some more.....It is such a wet and dreary day outside that I'd rather be doing my updates than being outside and no I did not watch the game. WHO CARES!!!! Certainly not me. Sorry, not a sports person even if I am a Texan.
After I watched House this past Tuesday (backstabbing bitch was eliminated) I caught the last couple of minutes of DWTS just enough to watch Helio win. At least it wasn't Marie Osmond, huh? You could tell that Scary Spice thought she was gonna win. Ha Ha...Anyways this past week was the last week of new episodes until January if at all because of the writers strike. I think Heroes still has one more episode until the end of the winter season. Bones was also a new episode where she was when she was tricked into kissing Boothe under the mistletoe in order for her and her brother and dad to have christmas at the jail. On Thursday Smallville and Supernatural were reruns already. Because of a Grammy special last night there was no Moonlight and just when I was starting to get into it, partially because I just recently watched the episodes I had recorded. Yesterday we were off from work because of the move and I got to watch all the episodes of Reaper I had recorded but hadn't had time to watch and they were okay. I just have about 4 episodes of NCIS that I need to watch so I can purge the thing.
Tried to go shopping last weekend but despite all the sales going on I just could not find anything for me. I was hoping to get some brown boots but either the available sizes were not mine or they were too big or too bulky for my taste so I ended up w/nothing. Been meaning to go get my hair done too but I'm just afraid to let anyone cut it since it's been butchered before. Maybe I'll just wait. I was supposed to take Maggie to the vet this weekend too but just like everything else I put it off.
Oh, yesterday I went to the ortho and she advised me that I probably have about one more visit left and depending on how it progresses I can take them off the following month so I'm looking at another month or two with the braces on. About time. I'm also healing pretty good from the other wound. It was slow but I think I'm finally reaching the end. I tell you, it's been so frustrating. You do the best you can but sometimes these things just have to progress on their own. Like w/the braces. There's only so much you can do. It's not like when you work out and progress depends on you and the effort you put forward. Some things are out of your control and it just drives me nuts. Nuts, I tell ya....

Black Friday
Who, me, go shopping today? I don't think so. I am staying so far away from any kind of shopping site today. Maybe tomorrow I'll venture out but right now it's cold outside, so I don't know. Just had lunch earlier. Leftovers from last night. It was good, though, but thank God it's only once a year :)
Yesterday went to see The Mist. It was a little long winded but it was okay. I do have to say that the ending was different, but I could see it happening. I won't spoil it in case you haven't seen it yet. I picked up the book where the original story is from and believe me the ending is nothing like in the movie, of course, they had to play it up for drama and believe me towards the end I could not stand the suspense. But when that crazy lady kept going on and on I was like, enough already. It kinda pissed me off because it is so stereotypical but that's what King goes in most of his stories. There's always a religious nut somewhere. Like in Carrie but I think this one was overdone a bit. Other than that I enjoyed it and of course it wouldn't be King without the creatures and I thought that action was good too. The creature effects were believable in contrast to some of his other movies. All in all it was a pretty good suspense movie with some creature bits to satisfy his fans. Would I watch it again? Probably not. Not because I didn't enjoy it but because it was too heart stopping for me. I tend to stay away from movies that are too suspenseful probably because I'm still nervous about getting panic attacks but I got through it okay.
We put up the tree yesterday before we even had Thanksgiving dinner. Ha! There was Christmas in one room and Thanksgiving in the other. That's funny. Maybe this weekend we can put up the lights. I still need to go through the decorations that we already have to see what we need to replace and/or get rid of. I'll probably do that later on today. Time to get the house holiday ready! Got a four day weekend so I have plenty of time.
Omg...watched Criminal Minds on Wednesday and it was good. It was when Garcia got shot and it turned out that it was because she had inadvertently stumbled onto a good Samaritan killer. He was a deputy how killed people and then called for help. This way he was always the first responder and looked like a hero. Of course, he'd get commendations and stuff so that made him look good. He thought Garcia was onto him but of course she wasn't and almost got killed for it. Oh, and on House he's down to the "final four". The mormon guy was fired even though he was promised immunity because he had made a deal w/Cuddy. He thought he was being so smart and that House would applaud the deal he made but it backfired on him. So now it's the "backstabbing bitch", the "liability guy" and "the short one". We'll see who else gets booted next week. Speaking of being booted out........thank God I'm not wasting my time watching DWTS. I only find out updates by what I watch on tv afterwards.....Jenny Garth was the next one to go. Oh, please, don't tell me that Marie Osmond is going to win. Can anyone say PITY VOTES!!!!!!!! She is so pathetic because her brother is always saying how hard she's trying and how the show saved her from being depressed. HELLO!! Does she not have a life? What about the dozen children she has, or the over 100 relatives. She just wants to win, that's all. Anyways, she was an unfair advantage because she is in the entertainment business. Now Helio, the race car driver, now he is the underdog who is doing awesome. If I would have voted this season I'd be voting for him, but we all know the way it really is. Put up a sob story and people will eat it up. Boo Hoo..
Well, unto more pressing matters, I have stuff to do....

Thanksgiving Preparations
Just kidding!! I know it's a week away but around here it's just the two of us, or three if you count Maggie and it's going to be just a simple dinner, nothing else. We have Thursday and Friday off so it'll be a short week. Finally finished all my christmas shopping. It's no big deal, really, this year we're not going anywhere special.
There's still new episodes on tv right now but who knows how long until we're bombarded with reruns since the writers are on strike. The only serial I really watch is Heroes and I think there's only like three episodes left until winter break (hate that). House was hilarious on Tuesday, but what else is new. The Bones episode had me thinking that our 20th high school reunion is only 2 years away if they do anything. Wow, 18 years since I graduated. Time flies when you're an adult. Okay, back on track, what was I talking about? Oh, yeah, tv.......Wednesday watched Criminal Minds...creepy like always and Thursday was sci fi day with Smallville and Supernatural. Give me a good monster episode any day. Speaking of monsters, Fridays now belong to Moonlight: see how long that lasts since it's a new show.
The weather: gees, we finally got some cool weather, it's supposed to be freezing just in time for Thanksgiving. Today it's kinda wet and cool. Not bad for a November day in south texas.
Have to make it short today cause I've got stuff to do....

Did you remember to change your clocks?
Yep, it's that time of the year again when we have to go around the house changing all the clocks back one hour. What a drag. Hate it because it means that by 6pm it will be dark already. Winter time sucks!! Anyways, here I am again ready to clue you in as to what happened this last week.
Well, the moron of the week award goes to this idiot in the car in front of us today. We had to go shopping this am and this idiot driving in front of us is going super slow and holding up traffic. I think he was lost or something. Not my problem.
According to entertainment news the cheetah girl got kick off DWTS. Ha Ha she probably thought she was going to win but if you're too good people probably think that you don't need their votes. Either that or she came across as too cocky. Who knows, I don't watch the show. Guess who was pissed off Friday because of another incident of "let's show a basketball show instead of the regular tv shows?" Yeah, me....what a bunch of idiots!!! WHO CARES!! but i guess since this is San Antonio they figure everyone wants to watch "our spurs" Well I don't . But i guess one has to put up w/this idiotic people. I did watch House though. Now that Foreman's back everyone is thinking that they are going to get the boot. Nothing yet, but...
Halloween has come and gone and it is now November. At least I've done most of my Christmas shopping. Yes, I said CHRISTMAS not X-mas or "the holidays". It's about Christ...deal with it. Ha Ha!! Back to what i was saying.....most of my shopping is done for now. Just watch as the rest of the year will just fly by. One reason i don't like this time of the year is because soon the year will end and that means that my next b-day is just around the corner. Boo hoo I'll be another year older.
Yesterday I bought Joel Osteen's new book. I've only read the first chapter because I'm also reading Dean Koontz' Velocity. This one has potential. I've read the first few chapters and I just gobbled them up. You can tell that this one will have plenty of action. Finished reading Carrie last week and the ending is way different that the movie. So what else is new. I'm also dividing my time between reading, watching tv and doing my lessons. Just finished assignment #1 and I need to get it ready to mail. Until next time, gotta go, things to do...

Weekly News
Here I am again, another week gone by--nothing new really to report except that I started my assignments for the correspondence course I signed up for. Hopefully I can finish up quick so that I can proceed to the next one.
I actually stayed up most of last night to watch The Women's Murder Club. It was a okay, a bit too "grey's anatomy" for me so maybe I can just call it a night on this one. Not enough murder and too much girlie stuff. On to the next show. Speaking of which, I have about 3 episodes of Moonlight to watch that I've recorded. Maybe later on today, but no, on second thought, I have a date tonight and I still have some more computer work to do so maybe tomorrow. Maybe. Did you hear that Marie Osmond collapsed live on DWTS. Sympathy vote, anyone. Yep, she more than guaranteed her spot for next week. I heard about it on the news because I don't watch it anymore. The dancing is okay but the celebrities are BORING. That and a couple of them have, in my opinion, an unfair advantage since they since and dance for a living. That said.....On Mondays I watch Heroes instead and I record it for later use. If we have time to watch it, anyways. Oh, on House the # of prospective employees has gone down. The old guy who was pretending to be a doctor got kicked out. It was hilarious because House came in with "roses" to give out to the ones that were staying. Ok, so as one of them pointed out they were more like peonies but the sentiment is the same. That was priceless. Onto the next "challenge". Since Foreman was fired from his job he was offered the old seat w/House and he accepted. After he went on several interviews he found out that he'd been blackballed and came crawling back. So I guess one of the applicants will have to go. Didn't watch Criminal Minds because it was yet another episode where a child gets kidnapped. HELLO, find a new writer. Nothing else of interest on tv to discuss.
The new SAW movie came out this weekend and will I got watch it? HELL NO. Not my cup of tea but if you like tasteless violent movies, go right ahead. Me, I'd rather watch something that will a)make me laugh b) make me think or c)make me wish they'd put down the volume (action movie). Haven't been to the movies in awhile because I haven't been able to sit down for long periods of time but maybe this Sunday. Well, maybe not, we have plenty of other stuff to do.
At one time I enjoyed browsing the web for interesting blogs but I have since given it up because too many times I'd come across an adult website. Got tired of it.
Mary called me earlier but she was at home. I can never get her full attention because I can hear her yelling at the kids in the background. That pissed me off and I told her that I couldn't tell if she was talking to me or the kids and that for her to call me back when she has time to talk to me. She called to inquire about all the incidents of cat mutilations that we've been having. Did you hear about those? Some idiot or idiots have been leaving mutilated cats out. YEW.. okay so I'm not a big cat person but this is still a living thing, have some empathy. I hope they prosecute whoever is responsible for this or it will send the wrong message and these types of heinous crimes will continue.

Another Week In The Neighborhood
Hear ye, hear ye:
there are some snobs playing in the AT&T championship tournament that are too cheap to pay for parking in the designated lots and are parking in front of our houses. Yeah, I know it's city property but if you think you're all that to be participating in this event then shell out the $20 to park in the lots and not in front of people's houses. This is incredibly annoying and clutters the neighborhood, not to mention that you leave trash behind.
Okay, I feel better now. Another week has come and gone and it's still hot. Not that bad but still above average. Give me a nice cool front w/temps in the 50s so I can wear some fall clothes.
This is the first week with the new cable service. We got sick and tired of dealing w/satellite transmission. As soon as it started raining the signal would go out. We had no way of watching the weather because the system was down. So we decided to try regular cable and so far it's okay. I mean, the delay when you change channels is annoying but once you get to know the numbers for the channels it's not that bad. It's just when you try to channel surf that it gets on your nerves. We have the triple service: internet, cable and phone. Okay, so we had to go digging for a phone to use and we found an old phone with a cord. It's not like we're actually going to use it, but....
Was kinda hoping I could catch the broadway show this week: Twelve Angry Men but there were some unforseen circumstances that changed all that. I was really looking forward to catching Richard Thomas on this play but oh well. Maybe we can catch Stomp which is coming next month. There are several others we can shoot for like The Wedding Singer and The Phantom of the Opera but these aren't until the spring. For now let's just wait and see.
Last night I watched most of Women's Murder Club but again I fell asleep. That was a good dinner I had and I just passed out til 11:30. Gees, what a party animal, huh? I recorded Moonlight but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. As a matter of fact there are several episodes of other shows that I still need to watch. Unfortunately Tuesday's shows on Fox were preempted by stupid sports. HELLO!! Not everyone is a dumb jock. Some of us like to watch regular tv. But anyways, as long as this week the shows return it's okay. It's time to watch Bones and House. Time to see who makes the cut for House's new lackeys. Tried watching Viva Laughlin on Thursday but it wasn't that good. So much for that one.
Did you hear about the big stick they're doing because of Ellen Degeneres and the puppy thing. Okay, people give it a rest. I'm sure there's more important things to fill the airways with than some "poor unfortunate family" who got their dog taken away. Hey, a contract is a contract. Next time look over what you sign before you take any action.
OMG there is a lot of drama going on at work but unfortunately I can't get into it here, this is not the right forum for such things but believe me you it is interesting to say the least. I have to stick to silly little things like what's on the idiot tube. speaking of which: that girl from Veronica Mars is going to be on Heroes now. She has some kind of ability so we just have to wait and see which one. I finally had another flying dream last night. It was cool, man, the feeling of flight is just awesome. I hadn't had one in a while and in a weird sense it was kinda relaxing. Maybe that's just what I needed.

First Full Week Back
Hey, it's Saturday and I am resting from a long week at work. That's right, I finally went back to work. It's a little tiring but I'll adjust again. I haven't fully healed yet but I'm almost there. Finally!!
Tried to watch tv last night but I fell asleep. It was the premiere of Women's Murder Club but I couldn't watch it because I fell asleep. I did record Moonlight so maybe I'll go watch it in a little bit. There's a couple of episodes I still need to watch that I recorded during the week. Well, tomorrow they're coming over to switch us on to cable again. We gave up on satellite tv because it was always acting up. We could tell it was raining outside because the signal would go out and when we'd check...sure enough, it was raining. That's bad because in a weather situation when we need to watch the news it wasn't available. Now we're gonna have the package with Time Warner, cable, internet and phone. Let's see how that works out. It's gonna make recording easier because now with satellite you have to watch the show you want to record which totally defeats the purpose of recording one and watching another.
Heard that Wayne Newton was voted off DWTS. That's what I heard anyways cause I'm not watching it this season. Seems boring. Last Friday was the season finale of DR WHO and he was left w/out a companion again. Martha decided to stay in the present after the last trip. I guess she grew weary of all that drama. I hear that in real life she didn't want to do the show for too long for fear of being typecast. Of course they all say that but no one on this side of the puddle knows who they are even if they are well known in England. We'll see who his next companion will be but at the end he was left all alone. AWW....
Did I mention that I've already started my christmas shopping. I have 2 presents already and I'm keeping my eyes peeled for more. Speaking of christmas, I will not spend another holiday on the road. No sir, this year I'm staying put and celebrating our way. Maybe come up with one or more traditions for us to implement into our holiday cheer. It's almost time for Halloween and I have some brand new orange lights to put on outside. Once Halloween comes and goes it's full speed ahead for the rest of the year and so much for 2007 hello 2008 but that won't be for a few more months....so...
Went shopping this am for fixings to make another carrot cake. I love baking but since I'm not much of a sweet tooth I'm just gonna take half and take the rest to work. This time I want to put the cream cheese frosting and see how that goes. Of course this Walmart didn't have all the stuff and I didn't feel like treking to the grocery store so it's gonna have to wait until tomorrow, I don't feel like dealing with traffic right now.

Closing out the week.....
Here it is, Friday and I am still at home. It seems like it's taking forever for me to fully recover. Went to the md today and he put some silver nitrate on this damn thing and hopefully that'll dry it out and I can get my butt back to work since they can't release me as long as it's still draining. So I guess for now there's nothing to do but home and pray that everything goes well.
On a more cheerful note, today is the season finale of Doctor Who. That's about the only interesting thing on the tube today. Oh, there's also Moonlight on CBS. It's about this vampire...is it detective or private eye. Mmmm....why does that sound familiar. Oh yeah, there was a similar show on in the 80's...what was it called.....Midnight something about a vampire who helped people while trying to deal with his own darkness. Anyways, this one seems cool too. We'll have to see what happens. Went out and got a DVR to record some shows while I watch the others. It turned out okay.
I've been doing some of my Christmas shopping already. 2 down 5 more to go-at least in the family side. Some of it will have to be done online so the sooner the better. After Halloween comes around everything will just speed up so I don't want to caught at the last minute trying to get things done. I don't think we'll be going to the valley this year. Christmas Day is on a Tuesday so maybe we'll go the previous weekend but I will not spend Christmas away from home again. That was a big mistake last year and the only thing to do is learn from our mistakes.

Heeellloooo New Month
Finally, fall is here. Say hello to cooler weather...well, not really...not here anyways. Right now I'm still out from work. Just waiting for any news on when I can return. Enough about that because if you can't say anything nice, just don't say anything at all.
The first week of tv premieres turned out okay. I think I have this figured out. It turns out that NBC is the network to watch on Monday nights. New shows Chuck and Journeyman are a nice effort. Don't want to get too attached though because who knows if they'll last past the first month. Heroes so far is good. The only bad thing about it is that it is one never ending storyline for the whole season. Normally that's enough for me to turn the channel but since it's about heroes I'll give it a shot. Okay, so DWTS is on but the new dancers are not that interesting this season. What I do instead is watch the results show. They have a wrap up of the performances and you don't have to sit through 2 hours of never ending blah-blah-blah to get to the good stuff. Sometimes I just watch the last 5 minutes or so to find out who got eliminated so I don't even have to sit through the "last time on DWTS". Life is too short. Tuesdays belongs to Fox because I watch Bones and House. It turns out that HOUSE brought in a classroom full of new recruits and will start eliminating the unwanted ones until he ends up w/three new employees. That should be fun to watch. Although I hear that at the end he'll end up w/the old three back again. Wed nights are..so-so..nothing that I need to watch but if I have time I'll end up watching Criminal Minds. That's why I'll probably watch the results show on DWTS because there's nothing else to watch that night. Thursdays is cool because of Smallville (with the addition of Supergirl) and Supernaturnal (which returns this week). Oh, I forgot to mention that Reaper comes on at the same time as House but I've set the recorder for that one. It's good and all but I prefer to watch House. I can always watch what I record the next day. That's about it, really, there's nothing good on Fridays now that all the cable networks' shows have ended. Oh, except Dr Who. The season finale is this friday but after that...nada... Until Sunday when I watch Cold Case and Shark (maybe). The new musical show comes out that night before Cold Case, but I don't know.
Have a couple of pictures to share today. This is from our bellpepper plant. It didn't get too big because of a lack of water (our bad) but we had to pick it because it was already turning red as you can see but boy was it delicious.
We had it for dinner this weekend and there's just a picture to remind us... Here it is, one solitary vegetable but I think there's more on the way.
Here's a recent one of Maggie. I was testing out a new camera and she just looked so adorable that I had to snap a picture.
Well, I need to go now, have some other stuff to do since I don't know when I'm gonna be called back to work.

New TV season
hey, welcome back. First of all, let me just say that I am still out from work. Yesterday I went to see the employee health nurse but she did not clear me to go back to work. Since the wound is still open and draining there is still a chance of infection so she didn't want me running around like that. So here I am, one more week at home. Have to go back and see her monday am and we'll see how it goes.
Spent yesterday evening watching all new episodes. I guess NBC will be the network to watch on Monday evenings. Watched Chuck which is a new show altogether. The pilot was pretty good, it might have some potential. But then again, if it's not a smash hit from the beginning it won't last long. Heroes was pretty good but it's a serial and the only reason I still watch it's because it has to do w/people who have superpowers so I think that's cool. After that was Journeyman which is about time traveling. God, I am such a geek! But that's okay. The only confusing thing about this one (as if time traveling wasn't confusing in and of itself) was why and how was this guy doing the time traveling. We were never told how it was possible for him to be doing that. Maybe as the show progresses but that sucked. Remember Quantum Leap where you knew right off the bat that it was a result of an experiment? Well, on this one we are never told how the time traveling is done. Other than that I thought it was pretty good because the guy goes back and alters events and affected the future somehow. Cool. It was also the premiere of Dancing with the Stars but I wasn't really tempted to watch it because the whole performing then having to watch again to see the results is getting kinda old. Yeah, yeah, just give me the story and wrap it up as soon as possible, I don't want to have to tune in again to find out what happened. Plus, the celebrities that come out...well....I really find them boring. I don't feel like, wow, I wanna watch. BORING!!!
This weekend went to see Rush Hour 3 and I have to say I liked it. I thought it was funny, it kept me laughing. Okay, so maybe the story wasn't Oscar worthy but it was just a simple comedy, people, get over it. You know how alot of the movies coming out now have to do with either Iraq or terrorists. Gees, lighten up. People don't want to be all depressed when they go to the movies. At least I don't. Case in point, the new movie that came out In The Valley of Elah didn't event make a splash.
Tonight is must watch tv night. The season premieres of Bones and House are tonight. Been looking forward to that all summer long. Well, not really, but it's cool.

Friday Anyone?
Just here enjoying my last weekday off until probably Thanksgiving. Yep, it's time to get back to work. It's good in a way because I was getting cabin fever here but bad because I haven't completely healed yet but I'll just have to do the best I can. Maybe this weekend we'll even make it to the movies. It's been awhile because I hadn't been able to sit for long periods of time but I guess this is as good a time as any. It'll have to be a short film, like a comedy or something.
Was actually watching Dr Phil yesterday but only because the topic was people who get plastic surgery to get rid of their ethnic features. Like, for example, asian women who get their eyes done to get that fold in their eyelids to make themselves seem less asian or the italian guy who wanted to get a nose job to get rid of his trademark big italian nose (that's how they put it on the show). Personally, I think if you have the means to do it, go for it. You can never change your ethnicity on the inside so the outside is no big deal. Personally I don't think I have any ethnic features, unless you count the color of my hair, eyes or skin but they were talking about big nose, eyes, or the like. If I did and I could have surgery done I wouldn't blink twice.
Last night was the two hour season finale of Burn Notice. I was able to watch the 1st hour but unfortunately I fell asleep on the 2nd hour. Maybe they'll show it again this weekend (I'm pretty sure they are, this is, after all, cable tv). I was hesitant about getting too involved in the series itself because some new shows don't get to a second season but this one is coming back in the summer. It wasn't like, wow, this is a great show, but it's worth a second look. Tonight is a new episode of Dr Who, probably the season finale too, but I can't wait.

One More Week
The weekend has come and gone and it's time to start the week again. This time it's a good thing but I'll be going back to work on Monday. I'm doing a whole lot better now. As of now the wound hasn't completely healed but it's looking promising. It's a whole (no pun intended) smaller and hopefully this week it will fare better. Spent the weekend shopping. Bought some clothes and shoes and stuff. Maybe this week I can go and try to do something with my hair. The last idiot that cut it didn't do a very good job.
Bought 3 more books to read: Stephen King's "Carrie" to celebrate Banned Books Week next week, Jonathan Kellerman's "Gone" and Dean Koontz "Velocity". Started reading the JK one because it has mostly psych stuff and that seems to intrigue me. Finished reading Marker this weekend and I have to admit it was pretty good. Maybe it's because I read it with very few interruptions and I was able to get into the story. Whatever the case, I also updated my spreadsheet that lists all the books in my library and then I decided to get rid of some of them. Those deemed "OK" don't quite make the grade so I pulled them out. Will give them away to someone else--maybe they'll do better then. I need the space on the bookshelf anyway. I don't want it cluttered with books that I know I won't pick up again...so...
Turned to the newspaper this am with disappointment. I was right about the Emmys. None of my favorites won. Big surprise there, huh? I'm glad I didn't waste 3 hours of my day watching that. Anyways, I was watching The Dead Zone. It was the season finale and it was alright. Now that his son is getting older he's starting to see things too. Last night he hit his head in an altercation and had a vision, just like his dad. There's one more week of reruns before the new season begins, although some shows are premiering this week but it's mostly next week. I have my trusty list of shows I wanna watch here but I have to wait.
Almost the Weekend
Hey, just here listening to Jack--funny as usual. It's almost the weekend and I just realized that it doesn't mean much around here. But onto other things, I'm still reading the Robin Cook book and I have to admit it's pretty interesting. Or maybe it's because I've been able to read it w/out interruptions like I usually get when I try to read it @ work. Anyways, I'm more than half done so pretty soon I'm gonna have to go looking for more. Next week is "Banned Books" week and I'm thinking of going to go buy one just because I can.
I bought the current issue of TV Guide last name and it also had some stuff on the Emmy awards which will be on this weekend. Now usually I don't watch it because a)it's supper long and b) the same people always win. I don't plan to watch it this year either but just for fun let me tell you who I'm rooting for:
comedy series-hmmm, I don't really care for any of the shows nominated so...let me guess...either Entourage (because it's an HBO) show or Ugly Betty will win. I have no favorites here.
drama series-I'm of course rooting for House but I'm pretty sure The Sopranos will win because they always do, especially since this was their last year on the air. Figures.
lead actor in a comedy-my fave is Tony Shalhoub. He's won before so maybe he will again.
lead actress in a comedy-Julia Louis-Dreyfus is funny on her show but since that lady from Desperate Housewives is also nominated I'm pretty sure she'll win (sex always sells)
lead actor in a drama-without a doubt I'm rooting for Hugh Laurie but of course James Gandolfini will probably win because he's on The Sopranos
lead actress in a drama-hm..Kyra Sedgwick is my fave here but again, Edie Falco will probably win (The Sopranos)
supporting actor (comedy)-no favorite here but Jon Cryer is funny..oh, never mind, there's 2 guys from Entourage..moving on ...
supporting actress (comedy)-nope, no fave either but I guess if I have to name one, it'd be that lady from 2 1/2 men
supporting actor (drama)-rooting for Masi Oka but he's surrounded by nominees from The Sopranos and Lost :(
supporting actress (drama)-don't really care about this one, don't watch, don't like any of those stupid shows
The other categories I couldn't care less about. I'll just wait for the newspaper to see who won. I'm not about to waste my time watching the broadcast. Anyways, The Dead Zone has the season finale on that day so...tomorrow they have the season finales for Monk, Psych, and Dr Who. Now those are shows. I know, I have weird taste in shows but IT ROCKS!!!!!!!

Still Homebound
It is now week 4 of being home--it is getting kinda old but i can't go back to work yet, i still haven't fully healed. Went to see the md friday and he was surprised at how quick i was healing. He still gave me 2 weeks off but that i could go back as soon as i was comfortable doing so. I'm just waiting for the wound to close completely before i attempt to go back. I just don't want to risk any kind of infection or anything like that. Yes, i can be paranoid and a bit of a hypochondriac but i do not want to go through this again. It had been more that 20 years since i had to have some kind of surgery but i was still a nervous wreck. Even though it was just for a few hours i would not want to go through it again. Plus, it takes forever to get back to a normal life. But i'm doing so much better now and hopefully i'll be better soon.
the weekend was spent doing stuff around the house and guess what? I finally got my vanity closet. It looks so cool. We bought a closet system and set it up in the bedroom. Our intention is to close it off and make a closet but that will come later. In the meantime everything was taken out of the old closet (shelfs and stuff) and it was transformed into a vanity closet with lights and a mirror. It looks so cool, thanks to my awesome husband who can make anything out of nothing. He is brilliant with these kinds of things. There's a lot more that needs to be done with it like adding a shelf or two but it looks cool for now.
I was reading about the new fall schedule yesterday and I found out that The Dresden Files won't be returning. Figures! Supposedly because the main actor moved on to another series. Too bad, I thought it was a cool show. The summer shows are having their season finales this week just in time for the fall schedule. There's gonna be some pretty cool shows coming on but you know how it is, don't want to get too excited since nowadays they don't stand much of a chance.
Since I'm spending more time at home right now I'm doing more writing. Wrote a couple of more poems and I finally started taking notes for that book I want to write. It's gonna take a awhile but I'm a little excited about it now. Wish me luck.
Gotta go, things to do!!!!

House Arrest-Day 15
Well, not really house arrest but it sure feels like it. Can't go anywhere right now because this wound hasn't healed yet. But it's looking very promising. This Friday I have a follow up appt w/the dr and we'll see what happens next. I'm just waiting for the office to fill out the paperwork for the fmla leave so I can drop them off at work. I'll probably have to go by in a couple of days.
This weekend we bought a movie to watch @ home since I really shouldn't go out yet--it was Hannibal Rising. It was pretty good. I think it was supposed to be the prequel to Silence of the Lambs that explains how the guy ended up as Hannibal the Cannibal. It was interesting and who can blame the guy for turning out the way he did. He was screwed up as a kid.
Right now I'm just waiting for the new tv season to start. Everything else on tv is crap. Except for The Closer and the USA network shows everything else is "seen it". Was checking out online the summary of new shows and it looks promising. Not too many reality shows. YAY!! I just hope they give the new ones a fair chance. Sometimes they just show a couple of episodes and consider them a loss if they aren't ratings giants. Oh, the new line up for Dancing With the Stars was announced too. Have to say I really don't feel like wow I gotta watch it. They do have a very diverse group but half of those I've never really heard of. I'll probably just watch it cuz I love to watch people dance. That's about it.
Hey, a few days ago Maggie was going crazy barking at something outside and this is what was in our front yard:
They only returned a couple of more times but we haven't seen them since. That's good cuz they're close to the main road here and I'd hate for them to get killed or what not. I just didn't want them here cuz then they get used to it and boy do they get loud sometimes believe it or not. Last time I saw them jump unto a tree. Freaked me out, I had never seen one jump that high. They can also be seen on top of the roof sometimes.
Anyways, started reading Robin Cook's "Marker" and it looks promising. From what I've read so far it is a page turner. It's a big book though it's probably going to take me awhile to finish it. Well, I've got nothing but time right now. I was looking through the Cooking Light magazines I have and tearing off the recipes that I want so I can throw out the magazine cuz they're cluttering up the kitchen. Even though we no longer subscribe we have like two years worth of magazines here. I'll probably just throw them in the recycle bin. I want to type them into my laptop for easy access. I found a chocolate chip cookie recipe that I want to try out today along with one for a grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich. It was honey and strawberries too. Sounded yummy so I yanked it out. We'll see how it turns out. I also need to finish my writing test today because it needs to go out tomorrow. So I better get going, have a lot of crap to do and it's already 3:30. Time's a wasting....

Downtime
Hey there, it's me again. I've been away for a little bit because I'm having some downtime right now. Haven't gone to work since Monday the 20th because I had a pionidal cyst removed last week. Had to have out patient surgery Friday and now I'm just trying to get past the post op care and just waiting to heal. Recuperation will take awhile so now I'm just homebound. Getting a little bit of cabin fever
but I'll be okay. Received a get well card from work along with a very nice bouquet of flowers. I thought that was rather thoughtful of them. At least I'm not stuck in bed. I can walk around and stuff but that hole on my butt has to heal before I go back to work. I'm on medical leave and therefore have to get clearance from the md before I go back. Using the extra time to catch up on my reading and writing. I'm almost done with the writing test I received. Need to return it before the 5th but I'm halfway through. Finished reading John Sandford's "Shadow Prey". It was okay, I wouldn't exactly pick it up again. Maybe I'll put it in my "donate" pile. Recently I gave some of them away, the ones that I know I wouldn't enjoy reading again so why keep them? I have a Robin Cook one ready to begin as soon as I can.
Sunday was dad's 68th bday. Sent him some money so he and mom could go have a decent meal for a change. Since I can't travel right now I had to at least send something. Spoke to mom earlier and she told me they went to this really nice new restaurant for breakfast. Told dad I'd keep bugging him and asking him if they'd gone out yet until they did it. Ha!! They spent Sunday over at Mary's and they made the usual taco dinner. As long as they enjoyed it, huh?
Haven't been to the movies in a couple of weekends for the obvious reason. But as soon as I'm feeling better I wanna go see Rush Hour 3. Tomorrow supposedly they are going to announce the new line up of Dancing With the Stars. Let's see who butchers up the whole dancing thing this season. The good news is that the new tv season will begin next month. The Closer is due to have it's season finale in a couple of weeks. It's been pretty good this season, haven't missed an episode yet. Tried watching Burn Notice but sometimes it's boring. The same goes for Kyle XY but you can only try.
Well, gotta go for now, I'll keep you updated on my condition

Storm Comin'
Greetings, fellow webcasters......just here enjoying the weekend while it lasts for tomorrow it's back to work.
Finished reading Jonathan Kellerman's "The Murder Book" and I have to admit I was a little disappointed. I struggled to get through it and most of the action was in the last few chapters. Had I given up I would not have gotten to the good parts. It had less psycho babble than I'd like and too much background research. I give this book a C. The last part is what saved it.
Right now I'm in the middle of John Sandford's "Shadow Prey". I'm more than halfway done and it seems okay too. It's another one in the Lucas Davenport series so I guess that's what keeps me going, having already met this character. We'll just have to see how the rest of it turns out.
Last weekend we went to see "The Bourne Ultimatum" and I truly enjoyed it. Normally I don't watch spy movies per se but this series of movies have been pretty good. I've seen the previous two and have enjoyed them too. It was a bit long but it was hardly noticeable because the action kept it going. Maybe it was just my imagination because I was soooo uncomfortable.
Onto more personal matters we are waiting to see where the next hurricane goes to. Dean is the name and category 4 is it's game. The last one brought us alot of rain last week. Called the parentals and it doesn't seem like they're going anywhere. For now. Maybe they'll change their mind when and if they see this "monster" coming at them.
Well, I received the draft of my last poem that'll be published. Made a revision and sent it back. I also received the writing test for that correspondence school. If I have time I'll take care of that this week. After all, right now I have nothing to lose. I just want to find out if I'm good enough. I looked them up under the Better Business Bureau but ran across a snafu and emailed the company. Just receive a reply and was told everything should be up and running. Gonna go try again.

Bring on the heat
Well, here it is...it's already August and we are deep into the summer heat. Of course, we hadn't felt it since we had all that rain recently but this past week was the 1st dry week in a while and boy is it hot now. How much longer until the first cold front?
Well, nothing new to report here. Went to see Chuck and Larry last weekend and it was funny. Not bad for an Adam Sandler movie but....it passed the time. Hopefully tomorrow we'll go watch the simpsons movie.
Fell asleep last night during my usual Friday night marathon but I still might be able to catch up since they will rebroadcast the episodes over and over and over again during the week. For example, they're coming out this afternoon at 5. Now I'm fully rested and can finally watch them.
Called mom earlier and got to speak to grandma and aunt anna and bella. They're doing okay. At least they found time to visit grandma in the nursing home. Can't believe she's still with us since it was her 87th bday this past may. Hey, at least I know that m0m's side of the family tree has a long life span. My great grand dad (grandma's dad) died at 97 so that should say something. Unfortunately her mom died young but that was due to probably psych problems. Oh, oh..... anyways, she's doing okay and that's what counts.
Had a busy morning today and I'm still on the go. Didn't have to work this am but we've already been told that we need some ot in the coming weeks. Had some errands and shopping to do before coming home and now I'm still doing stuff so I'm going to have to keep this short.

I think I see the sun
As I started my day today I peeked out the window and I thought....wait...this looks oddly familiar. Yep, it was Mr Sunshine out to greet the world. As of this week it was still raining but yesterday was a dry one and today hopefully will be the same. It is crazy out there. Rain, rain and more rain but it's a welcome relief from the heat we normally would have to put up with. But enough already!!
It's been pretty quiet around here. Well, when it comes to work it's just a matter of SSDD but I refuse to ruin this otherwise pleasant blog by discussing any details so I'll just stick to other matters.
Went to see Hairspray last weekend. Not bad for a musical. John Travolta was good in this role. I definitely am glad I went to see it. Hopefully tomorrow we can catch another movie. It's a toss up between Chuck & Larry and The Simpsons.
Went shopping for more books to read and I got 3 more. Started reading The Murder Book by Jonathan Kellerman. He's the psychiatrist turned writer. It's pretty interesting--too bad I forgot the book @ work. I'm not about to go just to pick it up. They'll make me stay. NOOOO!!!
I actually stayed up last night to watch my Friday marathon. There was a familiar face or two last night on Monk. They had "Oswald" from the Drew Carey Show and Alfred Molina. It was an alright episode. Psych was funny as always. Then I watched Dr Who. As soon as I heard the very familiar mechanical voice I was like, oh no, not the Daleks again. That is the most annoying sound ever. Since I had the captions on, like always, I was tempted to MUTE it and just read it but it didn't last long. It was one of those 2 part episodes. Yeah, I hate that too. That's the reason I don't really like to watch serials on tv. This mind of mine likes things quick. Tell me the story and move on. I hate to be kept waiting for a solution. But since it's Dr Who I can wait till next week. Just don't make it a habit, guys. I think that's what killed Enterprise. The last season was a long story line and I think people just got tired of watching. I know I did.
Aw man, I'm getting hungry but I don't want to go eat. I went to the orthodontist yesterday and I got a rubber band (triangle) put it and every time I want to eat I have to take the damn rubber band out and right now that is extremely painful. Brought a tear to my eye yesterday....lol...Maybe I'll just make a liquid meal. Yeah, that's a better idea.
I've been putting up my hair in a pony tail all this week so you know what that means. ....time for a haircut. I got some samples and maybe tomorrow I can take care of it. Like my hair short because if I put it up it only messes it up and it looks ugly. UGH...
The 25th was mom's 66th bday. Sent her a card and called her that morning which is the most I can do @ the moment. But I guess if I were there it'd be the usual: her meal @ Shoney's . Gee, people, get out of that rut. I better move on...

The 25th was mom's 66th bday. Sent her a card and called her that morning which is the most I can do @ the moment. But I guess if I were there it'd be the usual: her meal @ Shoney's . Gee, people, get out of that rut. I better move on...

Hello weekend!
It is actually Saturday and I did not have to go to work for now. Enjoy it while it last because my spidey sense is telling me that this will not last.
Currently the sun is shinning but I hear it will be raining again pretty soon. Oh no, and the lawn still needs to be mowed. I think we've had enough rain for now but there is still more on the way.
Last night was a busy one. Got home, ate dinner, went out to run some errands and then returned to finally do my daily workout. At first it's hard to get started but once those endorphins kick in it's a breeze. I had to do this before eight o'clock because it was the season premier of Monk and Psych. Since Dr Who comes out @ the same times as Monk I just opted to wait until the rebroadcast @ 10. So, it made for pretty good tv viewing. A good break from all the other crap on network tv. At least these shows are funny and kept me watching. Sarah Silverman was pretty funny on Monk. She played Monks "#1 fan". Talk about creepy in a funny way. Psych was as funny as always. They were spoofing american idol. It had a laugh or two or three or four. Anyways.....it was 10 by the time Dr Who came out and I think I fell asleep towards the end. This shouldn't reflect bad on the show which had the doctor and Martha going to 1599 and meeting Shakespeare. There were some witches involved but like I said I fell asleep towards the end. Hope I get to see it again. Or next time record it so I can watch it the next day when I am fully rested. It's been a long week and usually by Friday I am sooo tired. Plus, the exercising I do on top of that leaves me tired so I usually just pass out on the couch. Go figure. But now I am wide awake and ready to take on the world. Or whatever.
Just finished reading Life Support by Tess Gerritsen. I have to admit that I've had her books (2) for awhile but I've been putting off reading them. She's a former dr turned writer (of course) but I didn't think they'd be all that good. Well I just finished the first one and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Finished it in a couple of weeks and it was an easy read. Easy to follow and hard to put down. She writes medical thrillers and in my humble opinion this one was pretty good. I give it 3 stars. Would I recommend it to others? Sure, why not. It's chalk full of medical drama. If you like that sort of thing. Maybe I'll pick up the other book this week. After all, I need something to read @ work when I have a minute or two free (literally).
Was reading the newspaper earlier and I toyed with the idea of mentioning a headline or two but I reconsidered because who wants to read bad news.
Not me.

There's no place like home.....
It feels good to be back home amongst familiar sights and welcomed relief from the overwhelming heat and humidity that is south south Texas. Not to mention those Texas size mosquitoes.
We were in Brownsville yesterday for Dora Lee's grad party. It was an interesting evening filled with plenty of family, food and fun. Yet that was not the most interesting part of the trip.
For starters we left town Saturday night @ around 9:15pm. We took our time on the road and since it was night time we passed the time watching several episodes of Supernatural. The trip itself wasn't bad. What happened once we reached our destination is what had us saying "never again". We got into town @ around 2:30 am or so and when we tried looking for a room for the night we were turned away not once, twice or even three times. We tried several hotels and to our dismay we were in a sense told that there was not room at the inn. The whole city including Harlingen and the island were fully booked. There were several sports tournaments and more than a handful of weddings going on. Which is unusual for a small town but I guess times they are a-changing. We usually make reservations way ahead of time but we figured--it's only Brownsville but the sucker is growing. Every time we go there's a new business popping up. Impressive. We ended up crashing on mom's driveway (we didn't want to wake anyone up @ the time). We got a couple of hours of sleep then took off for breakfast. I don't really remember much of what happened yesterday because I was sleepy and cranky all day-can you really blame me? We left last night again @ 9 after the party because we were stone tired and just wanted to get home cuz Joel had to work today @12. Didn't make it too far and ended up staying in Kingsville overnight. Things looked so much better after an uninterrupted night of rest. Got back into town before 10am and after a good breakfast it was time to go to work. Not me, I asked for the day off. For a brief second, brief....I considered going in to work but there's a lot of stuff to do around here. Plus, I didn't really felt like it. :)
Did I mention that mom got attacked by susan's dog? She had to have three stitches on her forehead from where the dog bit her. Yeah, ouch. Don't know the details but apparently they were playing with the dog when things got a little out of control and he collided with her head. She's doing better now but I think they're getting rid of the dog.
Have things to do, gotta go and make myself useful. Took plenty of pictures this weekend at the party. Maybe next time I can share some but for now gotta go.
Peace...

Happy 4th of July
Greetings ladies and gentlemen. Help me welcome and new month just chalk full of possibilities. Okay, enough of the positive crap and unto reality. Yes, it is a new month but it is also SSDD. It's like a month full of deja vu. Awfully bad deja vu. But alas here we are halfway through 2007 and boy is it wet. It just hasn't stopped raining. Right now it's quiet but this morning it was wet again. I hate going out when it's wet because you know how flood prone this city is. Yesterday after work was a nightmare. Had to stop and ride out the storm because I came to the realization that I own a car and not a boat. Believe me--I thought I was in Vienna or something because the roads turned into literal rivers. Just gave it some time and headed on home. Only to watch the news and confirm that it will indeed be wet all week. Too bad--some outside celebrations were canceled but who cares,it's not like I was going anywhere anyways. I thought about going to work today for a few hours but I got my sanity back and decided against it. I really need some time off.
Yes, today is a holiday and it's a day off but some people were actually going to work. How un-American is that :)
I put up the flag today but it got soaked in the rain. Oh well. I don't keep it up everyday. It's only supposed to be for certain holidays and never to be kept outdoors at night unless it is lighted. I usually take it down before dinner.
I was watching the History Channel and their documentary on the Revolutionary War but it is too long. It's an all day thing and I've got other things to do before I return to work tomorrow. I did watch it for a couple of hours and it was interesting to learn that the Declaration of Independence was drafted and signed before the 13 colonies were actually free. They were all pumped up and stuff but deep inside they were all paranoid because they knew that if they were captured by the British they'd all hang for treason. Isn't that cool. They knew they were considered traitors but they had to do what they believed was right. That's your history lesson for today. Gotta love it...
There is one positive side to all this rain. The garden is just bursting w/the fruits of our labor and here's proof of that.
Here is our first tomato of the season (yes, a fruit). It was green when
we picked it (to save it from the wildlife) but now it's almost ready to eat. There's some more on the vine but I'll get those later. The lime tree also has plenty of limes to harvest. The cactus was harvested last week and we have plenty of those to cook in the coming weeks. Maybe we'll give some away. Maybe. After we're done with them. We had to put some chicken wire around the tomato plant to keep the deer and squirrels out. Nothing we did kept them away so this was the last chance to actually have it mature.
Didn't go to the movies this weekend because to be honest there was nothing good on. Plus, I'm waiting for The Transformers to premiere. My bad, it started yesterday but we usually wait for the weekend to go watch a new movie. We don't have to see it the day it comes out. This one looks like it will be a big one. My sources tell me that it was sold out for yesterday's audience. I can't wait. Yes, I am a geek and I love my sci fi. Not all of it though-even I have my standards. I love Star Trek but have never gotten into Star Wars. What's the difference you ask? Who knows. All I know is that some stuff is easier to swallow than others.
Even though everything on network tv is either reruns or reality shows (enough of those, there's a reason I watch tv-to get away from reality) I'm enjoying the shows on cable. The summer season is in full bloom and I am loving it. Mondays I tune in to Kyle XY on ABC Family. You know, the kid w/no belly button. Nah, it's okay for a family show, it passes the time. On TNT I watch The Closer. It's another cop show but it's interesting. Sometimes funny, the deputy chief can be hilarious sometimes. Oh, and on USA Sunday nights I watch The Dead Zone. I'm surprised it has lasted six seasons already but it's still good. Next Friday they'll be premiering Monk and Psych both funny in their own way. At least it's a welcome relief from the crap on all the other channels. Oh, and by the way, Dr Who starts this month too on Scifi channel. We'll just have to tune in to see how the new traveling companion turns out. If you can't remember, last season the dr was separated from Rose who ended up in a parallel universe so he got another companion. Of course, in real life the actress that plays her wanted out because she didn't want to be typecast. As someone who isn't familiar w/her other work, she'll always be Rose. So much for that mentality.
Look at that, it's almost three o'clock. Gotta go, plenty of other stuff to do.

Weekend At Last
Hey there, back again after a long and painful week but I got through it. Yea for me...Had to go to work today but everything turned out okay. I guess. I tell you, it's been raining like crazy around here. Luckily we didn't get the brunt of it like our neighbors to the north and west did. There was major flooding there but we got spared. Times like this remind me of the big flood in Houston in 2001. Downtown and the surrounding areas were left a mess-it was bad. This morning it rained a little but it looks like the sun is out already. I don't know which is worse-the rain or the humidity that sticks around (no pun intended). But then again it is summer so hang in there folks the hot and humid weather is just beginning.
There's nothing good at the movies this week so I guess we'll just have to wait til next weekend for The Transformers. It looks like a cool action movie. Remember the old cartoons? Well this is the live action movie. Kinda reminds me of all those alien invasion movies. Can't wait.
TV still sucks. Used to watch So You Think You Can Dance but I found something better to do w/my time: I started working out again. Finally. I do a little under a mile and half a day (almost every day) and some other weight resistance exercises. I was doing pretty good before the panic attacks set in a couple of years ago. You know, any little thing that set my heart racing would drive me into a panic. Even the hot weather would do it because in the midst of an attack you have the cold sweats. So the first summer was bad. Every time I broke into a sweat--yep, you guessed it. But now I'm back baby and better than ever. 'Course I still have a lot to go but I'm well on my way.
I'm almost done w/the book and I promise as soon as I do you'll get my review. Haven't had time to read at work cuz we've been really busy but the weekends usually give me extra time to read (when I remember to bring the book home). Haven't been able to get out and do much because of work-this month was loaded w/activities to do but alas we couldn't :( Better luck next month.

Monday Blues
Here it is again folks--Monday--that dreaded day when we all must suspend the life we want to live for the reality of the life that we must live. Happiness comes with a price, folks, nothing in life is easy. Yesterday for a few glorious hours it was peaceful. Now I must return to being surrounded by hypocrisy and pettiness. It is a daily testament to the control I have of my inner beast. Left unsupervised it would mean chaos. Imagine if those images were real. Better yet, it's better not to.
Went to see 1408 yesterday. It was pretty cool but then again I'm biased because I'm a big Stephen King fan. Even if, I admit, I had to close my eyes on a couple of scenes but it was worth the effort. Since I've read the actual story that this is based on I can tell you that in my opinion it at least resembled the original. That was cool the way he was seeing the ghosts of the previous victims and I knew it--when he stepped out onto the ledge to hopefully find the window of the next room--I just knew there was going to be no window at all. I guess when you do as much reading as I do you tend to expect these things to happen. The fire at the end was interesting to say the least but at least he doesn't end up setting himself on fire. He does end up burned, thou. Now that I have controlled the panic attacks I can watch these kinds of movies w/out freaking out like I used to. I'm baacckkk....about time, huh? But I still wouldn't watch those really scary movies like I used to . Let's just leave it at that. It's been awhile since I've had the kind that really affect me so I guess I'm up one.
Rained again today but at least I was indoors for most of the day. Went to work yesterday since it's the last week of the month but next Saturday is the 30th so I guess we'll be working then too. That's all I'm going to say about work. Better left alone.
Getting ready to go watch The Closer but I just wanted to do a quick update. I will return when the time is right.

Movie review
Here it is again. Another weekend. At least I didn't go to work this am. Looks like the rain has finally stopped for now but unfortunately the sun and humidity are back .
Finally went to see The Fantastic Four last weekend and I thought it was good. Not great but certainly not bad. At least I didn't have to sit through three hours of movie. The story was okay and the special effects were good. Aside from that I really have no comment except there's this funny moment before the wedding when the guests are arriving and there's this gentleman who approaches the "bouncer". He insists he's on the list but he is turned away anyways. Even when he says his name is Stan Lee. That was hilarious. Probably the only time I reacted with more than a chuckle. There's been other movies where he has made an appearance as himself I just can't think of them right now.
Yeaaa...I'm excited at the prospect of going to see 1408 tomorrow. I'll let you know how that goes. This one also meets my requirements: less than 2 hours long!! lol Maybe Stephen King will make an appearance on this one too. He is fond of playing small roles in his movies. Not all of them though.
I am halfway through "The Pelican Brief" but I forgot to bring it home this weekend. Oh, well, it'll just have to wait til Monday but so far so good. Hey, John Grisham was in town this week. Too bad it was just to speak to the bar association and not a public appearance. Too bad, I would have like to meet him in person.
Susan was in town last weekend but I didn't get to see them. What else is new, huh? After all, I'm only the kid sister. The younger, more beautiful, smarter sibling. Although did you hear that news story about iqs and family rankings. Supposedly the older sibling has a higher iq than the younger ones. Yeah right...not this family. Just because they have the better paying jobs doesn't make them any smarter. I'm just a misunderstood, under appreciated artist. Boo hoo.. Anyways...bologna, I say..One day I'll get my act together.
This week saw the premier of The Dead Zone and The Closer. I was so looking forward to both of them but they failed to deliver. On TDZ they killed off one of the characters, the sheriff, the husband of Johnny's friend. Wow, talk about a surprise. It's like the season finale during the season premiere. It is so confusing. The Closer was a little better. I thought they were going to get rid of someone because the boss was faced w/budget cuts and had to either transfer or fire someone. She didn't. They worked out some complicated budget loopholes and everyone is still there. Now, you ask me what was the murder mystery of the week? Who knows.
Hey, we might go down to the valley again the weekend of July 7. On the 8th they're throwing Dora Lee a graduation party. It was the only day they could get the family together. I asked for the day off but who knows. Things at work are getting better now that there's been some changes but we'll see what happens.

Happy Father's Day
My, it's that time of the week again, isn't it? Today went to see The Fantastic Four movie and it turned out to be pretty good. Mainly because it was only 89 minutes long and you know how i hate super long movies. Like, okay, get to the point......just tell me the story and move on. Anyways, the story itself was good and the special effects were even better. I'd go see it again if i could but i can't so I won't. Looking forward to next weekend so i can watch 1408. I'll keep you informed.
Today is Father's Day. Couldn't go see him but I sent him a card. Even if we did go see them they are so boring and predictable I can tell you w/out verifying it that they had breakfast @ Shoneys like always. BORING!!! Gees, people, get a life. Today is also Mary and Susy's 41st bday. Sent them a card too. Called them earlier. Caught Mary @ the mall but cut the conversation short because you know she has the attention span of a fruitfly. I cannot tell if she's talking to me or someone else that's with her. I got so frustrated that I just told her okay, gotta go. They are so caught up in their little life that it'll probably be months before i hear from them again. I just dread going to visit because they can never take a few minutes from their busy life to call or visit. Oh well, it's a good thing I don't have to talk to them everyday.
Since today is Sunday and tomorrow it's back to work I am dreading it sooooo much. W/out going into details, that is the last place i wanna be at right now. Hopefully things will change soon.
We have been having plenty of rain this last couple of days. Maybe it'll dry out by tomorrow cuz you know how I hate driving in the rain. This city is so flood prone that any little downpour will have some idiot trying to get thru a low water crossing and then we the taxpayers will have to pay to save their sorry ass. Don't they EVER learn. Guess not. Their idea of fun is standing in the heat @ the airport waiting for some basketball players to arrive (who don't stay for longer than 15 minutes anyways).
Oh, today is the season premiere of The Dead Zone but that's not until 9pm but until then there is absolutely nothing to watch. At least tomorrow there's the closer and Kyle XY. For what that's worth.
I know, don't mind me, I'm just in a bitchy mood today because I have to go to work tomorrow again. AAAAHHHHH !!!!!!!!! Beam me up Scotty! I know....SUCK IT UP!!!!!
Oh, there goes another ambulance. Probably someone caught in the rain. Go figure. Gotta go, maybe next time i'll be in a better mood. I wouldn't count on it, though...

Finished another book
Was catching up on my reading earlier and it reminded me that I have not yet commented on the previous one. Finished reading Fool Moon last week. This one is from Jim Butcher. He's a new author I picked up on because of the sci fi series The Dresden Files. He writes the series of books that the show is based on. I really don't want to get too excited about the show since it's on cable and we all know how often those shows survive. Usually it's one season and BAM you're gone. I sure enjoyed it this season though, I hope it's around for at least one more. Although I've been reading the message boards regarding the similarities or lack of. After reading one book (I plan to read more) I tend to agree w/those who say "hey, where's the beetle?". It seems that in the books Harry drives a BW beetle and on the shows he goes around in a Jeep. Not to mention that Murphy is written up as short and blond but on the show she's tall and brunette. Hmmm....that didn't take away from my enjoyment of the book itself. Although I have to admit that throughout the whole thing I kept picturing the show in my mind. That's what happens when you watch the show first and read the books later. I thought it was cool, though, totally enjoyable. I think I finished it in a week or so. Keep in mind that I only have Saturdays, breaks and lunch time to read. Sometimes not even lunch times because sometimes I only take half an hour. All in all, I would go back and buy the next book in the series. Four stars :)
Picked up a new one this week. This one is by Kathy Reichs. If the name sounds familiar (I doubt it) it's because the show Bones is based on her books. Yep, another one of those. I'm like halfway through and I have to admit it's pretty good. At least I keep going back to it and not dreading finishing it. Then again, if it's dragging then why bother reading it? Right?
Earlier in the day I was purging my book shelf. I have so many books and running out of space. I think I took out almost 10-15 books and need to get rid of them. Anyone interested? I'll probably just give them away. These are the types of books that a) are duplicates or b) I know I have no interest in reading again (they got a ho -hum) rating from me. I just need to update the spreadsheet to reflect this.
Boy, the calendar says it's June but I swear it already feels like August around here. The humidity is unbelievable. It makes you feel like not going outside at all. This weekend is the Texas Folklife Festival but I don't know if I feel like being out in the sun. Then again it's not like we're going to be there allll day but still. Makes you kinda lazy. Kinda.
New movie on the horizon: 1408--based on the Stephen King short story. Dawned on me that I have that story on audio cassette (yes, cassette) but I still haven't heard it. I have until June 22 to become familiar w/it because I intend to watch it. That's if I find something to play it on. LOL... Haven't gone to see the Spiderman movie yet. I have the day off on Monday, maybe we'll go watch it. They're piling up on me!!!!!!!!!!! The new Fantastic Four movie is due out soon too and I wanna watch that one too.
The tv season is officially dead. Time to find something more useful to do w/my time instead. Just got a Bowflex this week. Maybe I can use this down time to get back into shape. Yeah....One can only try. Anyways, back to tv news: The only thing I am barely interested in is the new So You Think You Can Dance season. Now I usually don't watch reality shows but be being the kind of person born w/3 left feet I enjoy watching people dance. It's not the reality part that intrigues me but the dancing part. They just narrowed the competitors down to the top 20 and things are going to get interesting (hopefully). Other than that, it's a whole snore fest.
Just got off the phone w/Mary. Everything's cool. Susan's gonna be in town next weekend, they're going to sea world. If she has time maybe we can take her out for her bday. Her 41st!!! Oh, she'll love me for saying that.
Well, gotta go, I'll let you know what happens.

Long Memorial Day Weekend
Yess!! We finally get some decent time off. Well, I could of gone to work today and Monday but...nah...I need some time off. Last thing I want is to over exert myself and then I wind up calling in sick. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I see long days ahead. The end of the month is here and we're still a couple of million off from the goal. On Friday they treated us to lunch--they ordered in pizza. Poor Julia, the one day she's gone and we have food brought in. Oh well. Everything is going okay. Too bad that the weather doesn't look too promising. Yesterday it rained and there's rain in the forecast until Tuesday. Ha Ha!!
Next week looks promising because there's the play at the park and we also have a tv preview screening to go to on Saturday. Sounds exciting, I can't wait. That's about the only thing promising on tv land since the viewing season is over. Nothing but reruns from now until September. Oh, the pirate movie is supposed to be coming out this weekend but I am not sitting through three hours of movie plus previews. I don't need to watch it that bad. When the second part came out last summer we went to see it a few months later and believe it or not I thought it was the biggest piece of hogwash since they declared mission accomplished in iraq. It was long, boring and a little bit overplayed. It reminded me of the lord of the rings movies. "Die already". The biggest turn off is that I couldn't really understand what they were saying because of the "accents". Moving on....Still haven't seen spider man 3. No time. It's also a two and a half hour movie and I just can't see myself wasting that amount of time no matter how good a movie it is (heard it was boring). I have precious quality time on the weekends and there are other more important things I could be doing w/that time.
Waiting till 3:30 to go pick up Maggie @ the vet. Took her in this am for her next scheduled vaccinations and I was told because she had a previous allergic reaction that they should have her under observation today. They called me @ about 1:30 to let me know she was doing ok and that I could go pick her up later...so...
Mom sent me some pictures we took during our last outing to the valley a couple of weeks ago. We went over for mother's day.
This is our Mother's Day breakfast outing. No biggie, same thing, same place same boring food but I guess it's the thought that counts. We couldn't stay for long and after that we left town after a stop and the in laws. All in all it was an okay weekend. Can't complain. Well, you can but no one will care. Sounds familiar? Well, nobody ever said life was fair. Gotta go pick up Maggie but I'll be back some other time. Have yourself a safe and happy Memorial Day and in between those bbq's and shopping sprees remember the real meaning of the holiday: to honor our service men and women both past and present for their work. We thank you all and may God bless you and keep you safe where ever you may be. Yes, that's right, I said GOD. Want to make something of it???

Lazy Saturday
Had to work this morning but I'm out of that hell already. Nothing new to report: SSDD. I was able to catch a couple of season finales on tv but that's bad news cuz everything after then will be reruns. Except for House which ends the season in a couple of weeks. The ones I'm sure a lot of people will be looking forward to are the big DWTS and American Idol endings. God, I sure hope Laila doesn't win. She's slow and boring. As for American Idol....who cares...I think the girl will win (see, that's how often I see the show, I don't even know her name. Maybe tomorrow we can catch a movie but I wouldn't get my hopes up. I submitted another poem to be published, this was for a British volume. Cool. I know if I took the time I could come up w/other stuff but I'm lazy.
The weather is nice and cool outside, maybe I should take Maggie out for a bit. Until later...

Is it May already?
Hey there, boys and girls....I finally return to you....It's been a soggy couple of weeks since it's been raining for awhile. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as in Eagle Pass where they got a tornado. The only bad thing about all this rain is that now the lawn needs to be mowed. Again. There are all kinds of colorful flowers in the front yard I'm surprised they lasted this long. We planted all kinds of seeds for wildflowers and we are finally seeing some results.
No major news on the horizon. Another month came and went @ works and we still didn't meet budget. Prepare yourselves for the outrageous goals for this month. Didn't go in this weekend, maybe the next one. As it is I put in about six and a half hours of ot but no more for this week.
Maggie is right here besides me all nice and quiet. Unless something happens outside she'll jump up and bark and scare the hell out of me. But she's behaving.
Went shopping last weekend and bought me another pair of shoes. That makes 2 for last month. Considering how picky I am about shopping that's considered a miracle. Bought season one of Supernatural and I just might watch an episode or two today. When it came out I couldn't really watch it cuz it's kind of scary and I was still having the panic attacks but now that I'm feeling much better I can finally enjoy it. I still can't watch really, really scary movies but this is progress. At least I can watch a suspenseful movie w/out my heart pounding. Anways, there wasn't that much to watch on tv. On Monday watched Heroes (which I recorded for J) and finally watched yesterday. It was cool but now they're back in the present. Watched some of DWTS and fell asleep. It was boring....not that may wow performances to speak of. Unfortunately someone had to leave and it was JRat. Too bad, though, he was nice. Something tells me Billy Ray will be the next one to go. That leaves the better dancers on the floor. On Tuesday we had a gas leak here and I couldn't watch much tv but I recorded House anyways. Ha!! Watched some of it but I guess I can watch the whole thing today. Got the whole day to myself and I can do WHATEVER I WANT!!!!! Didn't watch American Idol but from what I hear Chris and the other guy got voted out. They're down to the last 4 w/only one guy remaining. I really don't watch it I just want to hear go goes and who stays. On Wednesday Criminal Minds spooked me as usual and I loved it. Thursday was Smallville and Supernatural. At least they were new episodes and w/May being Sweeps Month maybe we'll get more in preparation for all the season finales. Haven't watched CSI for awhile now, not since they started w/that story loop about the miniatures killer. Puhlease....The only sad thing about a Friday is that there wasn't much to watch. As a matter of fact there was nothing to watch. At all.. This weekend sees the release of the new Spider Man 3 movie. I hear it's 2 1/2 hrs long so I don't know if I wanna go watch it but then again if it's an exciting movie you won't even notice the time. Maybe. I just might wait until the big hoopla is over and go watch it then. Hate crowds. Went to see The Invisible last weekend and it was ok. It's been awhile since I've seen a "Wow" movie. Maybe my luck will change w/all the big summer movies coming out.
Today is Cinco de Mayo. How does that affect me? Not in the least...moving on...
This June will be filled w/activities to do and hopefully we'll find time. It's the annual Shakespeare in the Park series. This year it'll be The Taming of the Shrew. I don't know much about it except for the fact that the movie Ten Things I Hate About You is based on this play. Not much, huh? So it guess I'll do my homework so the evening won't be a complete waste of time. Not that it will--even if the play stinks it's still nice to get out for some fresh air--it'll be at the Botanical Gardens. June will also be the first of the Concert Under the Stars jazz concerts so that'll be nice too. Maybe I can leave work early provided J's off that day. MAYBE.. Wish me luck.. If not there's always the one in July and August.
Well, gotta go, things to do....

Almost the end of the month
Greetings...my how times flies when you're chained to a desk for nine hours a day. Had to go in to work today since the month is almost up and we're still 8m short of the goal....like that's gonna happen. Anyways, almost everyone was there. Everyone that counts, that is. Julia brought tacos and Kathy brought donuts and everyone was content. With the food, that is. Left at 12:30-my usual 4 hours. We'll see what this coming week will bring.
Trish is in town this weekend but I doubt they'll contact us--we're not that important. Her bday was yesterday and she wanted to come to Fiesta Texas. Good for her. I have a necklace for her and Alyssa and I bought mom and dad the The Nativity Story DVD but the CD will go to Mary. I'll probably mail it out the weekend, the whole package. Just spending the day at home catching up on paperwork and stuff.
There wasn't much to watch this week on tv. Dancing With the Stars was new. Watched it as I celebrated that Clive was finally voted out. Now maybe the real competition can start. There was finally a perfect score handed out. Apollo and his partner got 3 10s for their samba which was awesome. Finally some real dancing. We'll see how far Billy Ray can hang on. House was pretty good too. Wasn't that weird when the kids' symptoms were because of the hormones the dad was taking?? We also got new episodes of Smallville and Supernatural. Looking forward to Monday was Heroes is all new episodes. Supposedly the show got a second season so unfortunately the last episode of this season will of course be a cliffhanger like all the others.
Was reading the newspaper this morning, trying to catch up w/the news I might have missed. Yeah, there are actually people who still read the newspaper. I get my news from all sources but I still like the paper for the comics. :) Reading about the shootings down in Virginia. Unfortunately you get famous faster for being bad than for being good. Everyone will know this guy's name from now on because he shot and killed over 30 people. Some people spend their whole lives doing good and will die virtual strangers. Go figure. God help us all. Yeah, that's right, I said GOD. Deal w/it.
Planned to go shopping this weekend since it was payday yesterday and we came into some extra cash but there was an unexpected expense that burst my bubble. Oh well, maybe next time I'll actually spend the money on myself. There was an exhibit opening today down at the Institute of Texan Cultures but I didn't want to go by myself. Add that to the list of things I missed.
Gotta go, there's plenty more stuff to do.

Spring Is In The Air
BBBBBRRRRR Spring? Yeah right. Here is the day before Easter when everyone dresses in their best spring outfit and outside it's cold and raining. Yeah, that's right....who would have thought that it'd be cold this time of year. But alas it's only temporary because, this being South Texas, it'll be in the eighties again by Tuesday. So there you go, enjoy your Easter the best way you can. Speaking of which, yeah, I said "Easter". Did you hear what the fanaticals for freedom from religion are doing now. They want to rename the Easter Bunny "Peter Rabbit" because it sounds too religious. As if bunny rabbits, eggs, and chocolate have anything to do with the real Easter. Go figure. I guess they had too much time on their hands since butchering CHRISTMAS and had nothing better to do in between holidays. Get a real job.
Guess what today is? Our wedding anniversary. six years and counting. Too bad the weather outside is nothing like the original date but when you're in love it's always sunny...
Been busy these past few weeks. Last weekend went to see Premonition w/Sandra Bullock. It was okay, nothing we haven't seen before. If you haven't seen it I had to spoil it for you but in the end her husband still dies. So much for that, huh? TV has been pretty boring because of all the reruns but Fridays are okay for now. I get to watch Identity (the game show) and Raines, the new Jeff Goldblum detective show. Don't want to get too attached because you know how soon a show gets pulled if it doesn't generate the required 20 million viewers to stay on the air. The good news is that tomorrow is Sunday and I get to watch Dresden. Heroes should be back on the 23rd if i can remember where it left off (i do). The new season of Dancing With The Stars and already two have been voted off-the model and the Ms America. Not a big surprise since no one knows who they are anyways. And did you catch the model (see, i don't even remember her name) try to bring out her inner latina to do the mambo. ha ha what a laugh. Monday is the next round of dances and we'll see what happens. Now, even if you're like me and have not seen American Idol you know who Sanjaya is, right? Well, he's still in the competition which many have said has downspiraled into a popularity contest instead of a singing competition. Well, duh...
Have a couple of pictures to share with you:
This is our first rose of the season. We have a few bushes of yellow, white and red. This season I have decided to cut them before the damn deer get to them. Sometimes they come into our yard and eat everything they can included these beautiful flowers so it was decided that we'll clip them and enjoy them before they are so savagely butchered. Took some to work to display on my desk. Everyone ooohed and aaahed. Maybe Monday I'll take some fresh ones but I guess it can wait until the old ones wilt a bit. Plus, on Friday Marta shared some from her garden and they all looked so nice it's a shame they gotta die, but oh, well.
This is Maggie enjoying a nice sunny day in South Texas. Yeah, she managed to stay still for one second enough for me to shoot this shot. It's like she's saying, okay, enough of this, I want to go and play :) She's doing pretty good. Just turned a year old and growing every day. Okay, so she won't get too big but you know what I mean.
I think I'll spend today indoors, it's too yucky to go anywhere anyways. You'd have to be insane to go anywhere near the stores today. Everyone out there doing their last minute shopping before tomorrow plus all the annoying shoppers from out of town who think they own the place. Sometimes it's best to just stay away until they go back home....if they do at all....Oh, guess what, I gave out goodie bags @ work on Friday. I got some baggies and tons of chocolate eggs, bunnies and stuff and just filled them up. Gave them out in the morning cuz i only worked until 12. I know, some people don't deserve to get stuff but that's not for me to decide. Besides, it's called office politics. The situation right now is so volatile that i just don't want to stir the pot any more than i have to.
This month we have tons of birthdays in our family. Marcos just turned 16 this week and next week is Alyssa's 13th (wow), Alex's 5th and guess who turns 40 this year. ha ha that's right. Anyways, Trish turns 19 this year. Yeah, wow, I feel old when my nieces/nephews are now teenagers. I might send Alyssa one of the necklaces i made, we'll see how I feel about it next week. Nowadays I take things one day at a time. It's the only way to cope.
With April in the air it's time for Fiesta although since I'm not a native.....i just don't get it, but if others do...well...they can party all they want. Go for it!!!
Until next time, I wanted to put this phrase on my computer at work but thought better of it: "Abandon all hope all ye who enter through these gates" That's from Dante's Inferno. How apt , huh??
