Sunday Night

Well, just relaxing after a really, really good dinner. had angel hair primavera (w/tomatoes, mushrooms and olives), ah, it was awesome. just doing some farming and playing my games on Facebook before i go workout. i really need to work out because i had a big dinner tonight, he he he. anyways, after i workout i have to get ready to face another week in...well, you know what i was gonna say next.

today we just stayed in and caught up w/stuff at home, probably since we were really tired from yesterday.

too bad Team USA lost to Canada in the hockey game. it was a good game anyways, just caught the last few minutes when they went into overtime. never much for sports.

Current Pictures

A cute little mockingbird taking a sip of water.
This is Joel trying to take the tequila straight from the agave plant.

Me and some huge tree.

Me again, of course.

Feeding time for the ducks

Boy am i tired

Today was such a nice day that we decided to head out to the San Antonio Botanical Gardenhttp://sabot.org for a nice walk. Yeah, a three hour walk. but it was a nice time, we had time to explore to whole place, took some pictures, and even a video of us feeding the ducks, it is so cute, i'll post some of the pics and video later when i have more time to load them from the camera. it was so funny cuz some of the exhibits featured old buildings, like jacales and log cabins and while we were looking inside of them, well, it kinda reminded me of the Blair Witch Project. Even the surroundings reminded me of that movie, how it's all old and stuff, but it was cool.

last night we went out to dinner with Terry and his wife Angela. It was a nice time, had a few laughs and came home to unwind after a long week.

by now i'm sure you've heard of the earthquake in Chile now. Since I'm following Juanes on Twitter, he got a lot of tweets from people asking for help to locate friends/relatives there and he was doing his part and retweeting them to his followers so they'd reach more people. this earthquake was an 8.8 but the news says that since the area is accustomed to earthquakes, they've made buildings that can withstand them more. so that's good for them.

Wednesday Night

Just finished working out a few minutes ago and i tried to log onto Twitter again but the stupid thing won't let me in. i've been told because it's very busy sometimes, it won't let people in, kinda like crowd control. like that's my fault. haven't been able to log in for the past couple of months. as you can see, i've also tried facebook but that's getting pretty old too. the games are pretty good but the whole point was to keep in touch with people. it seems some have their own agenda. left out again. oh well. so i guess now i'm back to blogging since that's what i seem to be good at. hopefully if things so the way we plan, i might get more time to myself to fully explore all my hobbies. maybe.

Snow Day!

Okay, so maybe it wasn't a lot, just some flurries that were DOA, never had a chance to accumulate on the ground, but considering that I've never seen snow...that was pretty freaking awesome. of couse it was also cold today, in the thirties, i'd have to be to have sleet and snow.

getting ready to watch The Forgotten while it's still on the air. new shows don't really have much of a chance to make it nowadays.

these past couple of weeks have been crazy, so many changes going on and on the horizon, it's hard to keep up. we'll see what happens.

finally mailed in my assignment that was due in september. yeah, september. i got an extension for jan 14 and it came and went and...nada....i just had some writers block, but it's outta here and i guess it's time to get ready for the final assignment. whether or not my instructor approves my next idea, i need to start putting something on paper. i don't want this to happen again, i don't want it to be known that i dragged my feet at the last minute.

Writer's Block

Right now I'm supposed to be finishing up my assignment that was due in December. I've already gotten one extention but i haven't been able to muster the courage to turn in mediocre work. The essay itself is done, but I'm stuck on the query letter. ha ha, that sounds funny "query". i just need one more essay to write after this one but i seem to have lost my confidence. i just can't seem to learn from my past mistakes. go figure.

we're supposed to be getting another cold snap tomorrow. time to bring out the snow boots again. HA HA...yeah, in san antonio, no less.

terribly disappointed that i couldn't get tickets to the michale buble concert. oh well, i opted out of going to see South Pacific in order to go to this one, but......checked only and there are still some good ones left for SP. maybe...

Weekend in Corpus Christi

Here we are on our recent trip down to Corpus Christi. It was so nice because the weather cooperated and since it was during the week, there weren't that many people around. As soon as we were able to, we took the dogs off the leash and let them run around freely. Tracy even went into the water trying to chase a bird. That was a good day.

Celebrating the Chinese New Year

Today we went down to the Institute of Texan Cultures for their annual Asian Festival. It was a little gray and drizzly but it turned out an okay day to be out and about.
Took a walk through Hemisfair Park first and there were so many possible "Kodak" moments that i snapped some pictures while we were there.

Once we got there it was already packed and it wasn't even noon yet but overall it was pretty good, got to see some dance demonstrations and eat some good chinese food. we also took the time to see some of the other exhibits in the main building as well so we had fun.

Haven't gotten around to sharing some pictures from my birthday so here you go:

Valentine's Day weekend

my how time flies, it's already valentine's day. around here it's just another day, we just acknowledge each other but we don't make a big old deal about it because we treat each other good the rest of the year, not just one day a year.

went to see The Wolfman yesterday and it was pretty good. a little gruesome, but that's okay, it wasn't too gory. it was two hours long but it didn't drag on like some do.

last weekend we went to corpus christi for the day on Friday. it was a nice day, so we figured why not take advantage. we had the week off from work so we just took off with the dogs for a nice relaxing day.

the weather has been crazy, though. this weekend it was nice and sunny, we even gave the dogs a bath and everything but a couple of hours ago the wind started picking up and the temp went from 70 to 48 right now. it's been a really cold winter, maybe it'll warm up soon, this valley girl wasn't made for such temps. plus, to top it off, the oak season is almost here and i am dreading it soo much because it gets really bad for me. wish me luck this year.

tried to get tickets to the Michael Buble concert in july but i had lousy luck. they barely went on sale friday and i logged on friday night and the only ones available are in the balcony section. that sucks, man, i really wanted to go but the balcony, no way.

next weekend is the asian festival at the institute for texan cultures downtown and i really want to go this year, just to get away for a little bit, but the weather might be rainy. still, it's a week away and the weather forecast is notoriously unpredictable from a week away.

it's almost gonna be a year since i went vegetarian and i am feeling good. not only do i feel good inside w/out all those meat products weighing me down but i'm also loosing weight. that's not why i do it, but it's a good side effect.

this august is the 20th high school reunion for lf and pace and if they allow me, i want to go to the pace one even though i did not graduate from there but i've known some of them since elementary school. we'll have to see what happens.

Short Month

Yep, not only is February a short month but i'm off this week which makes it even shorter. Having a blast just doing nothing. Getting some stuff done around the house, and going shopping. we wanted to go to the coast, but it's been cold and wet, maybe next time.

In honor of my birthday:

How Long

This face before me
Still young and fresh
Etched with just a few lines
But it's still me
How long before I stare
At a stranger before me
Scarred with the passage of time

This body I carry
Still functions everyday
It suffers aches and pains
But it's still me
How long before I stumble
And my steps grow weary
Weakend by age

This mind within me
Still clear as glass
Occasionally it fails me
But it's still me
How long before confusion comes
And I struggle to survive
Confused by the growing fog.

Yeah, that's right, starting to feel old now. I'm a couple of years away from the big 40. Middle age, here i come. Oh well
