Memorial Day Weekend

Started this long weekend with a tour of the Missions downtown. Unfortunately, it was hot out there but we enjoyed this. Wanted to ride our bikes out there but it was too hot for that, so we just walked around a little bit and took some pictures of course.

Tomorrow we might go see Prince of Persia, looks like a pretty good movie, kinda like Pirates of the Caribbean, so we'll see.

This week we lost two Hollywood actors: Gary Coleman and Dennis Hopper. May they RIP.

We have a three day weekend so we'll see what else we can fit in out calendar, for in June it looks FULL. We have tickets to Young Frankenstein, this year's Shakespeare in the park (Romeo and Juliet) is next weekend, so is the Texas Folklife Festival, the monthly Dr Who night, a two concerts under the stars. it's gonna be a busy one.

Finished reading another book

Last week I picked up a new book, Graham Masterton's "The Doorkeepers". I needed something to read while waiting on jury duty. Yeah, got called for jury duty last Friday but as it turned out the case was unable to go through and they dismissed us almost at 10:00. Not bad, cause i got the rest of the day off, w/pay. anywho--finished reading this book, which took a week but that's because it's only a paperback. still reading STephen King's Under the Dome but that book is a hardcover and about 1,000 pages long, so hopefully by the end of the summer i should finish it. this one was pretty cool, had to skip a couple of pages because this girl does not read about human torture, too graphic. anyways, aside from that, it was a pretty cool story about this guy who, when his sister turns up murdered, travels to London (where she lived) to find answers. Turns out he and his girlfriend have to travel to alternate worlds to find out who killed her. all in all, it was a good story. glad i picked it up. 4 more books to go. :)

Friday Night

Yeah, it's Friday night and here i am updating my blog. Last weekend went down to the valley for grandma's 90th bday party celebration. it was pretty cool cause a lot of the family showed up throughout the day. Took plenty of pictures and video to celebrate the occassion.

Here is grandma posing w/the yummy cake we had. Okay, so it was store bought, but it was the thought that mattered. Ani brought in some chicken sandwiches and pasta salad and we had cake of course.

This is me w/grandma. we look awesome, huh?

We celebrated three things that weekend: grandma's bday, mother's day and my mother in law's bday. we showed up w/cake, ballons and lots of other goodies.

Wednesday we went to the Alamo Drafthouse for the monthly Dr who showing. It was a packed house that night. We got there at 7 and it was already almost full. Had to sit in the very front row, but it was worth it. Can't wait for the next one.

Weekend, yay!

Another week has come and gone and i just have to say: where the hell was the weekend when i needed it on monday? :D

it's mother's day weekend and we didn't travel this time. thank god for small miracles. i'll just call mom on sunday and wish her a happy mothers day. sent her a card, but i guess it'll be a little late. we might go for grandma's 90th birthday, but we'll see.

the weather's been getting warmer by the day. summer is just around the corner. hope it won't be as hot as last year, we couldn't do anything outside with all the 100 degree plus temps.

sylvia had her baby and is on maternity until july. just as well, just lost another friend. oh well, time to move on. life goes on.

don't have anything planned for this weekend. we might go see iron man, it depends on whether or not it's sold out. it might be.

Lazy Saturday

It's Saturday afternoon and just updating some of my online activites.

Slept a little bit late today because we were out late last night. We went to the Transiberian Orchestra at the Municipal Auditorium and it was AWESOME!! Had never seen them before, when they do their christmas concerts, we're usually out of town, or busy otherwise, but after seeing them last night, wow, we will definately go see them next time.

Just wanted to share some pictures from last night. All in all, a great Friday night, great date night. :) I was just maybe a little concerned that all those lights and lasers might trigger a migraine, but they didn't.. My feet were just a little swollen from sitting for almost 4 hours straight without stretching them, but so worth it.
thursday was monica's birthday and i made some cupcakes for her:

I also got her a present and some balloons and we all signed a bday card for her. i didn't collect any money because it was all a last minute thing. sylvia usually does this, but she's out on maternity leave and, well, i just put it off. we went to mama margie's for lunch and it was my treat.
